Market at Oakland Plantation
Site Improvements
Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Historic preservation and conservation were fundamental elements when master planning The Market at Oakland Plantation. The mixed use development includes 236-acres placed in trust with the Mount Pleasant Open Spaces Foundation and a 77-acre "Premier Lifestyle Center" designed with more than 650,000 square feet of economic development, office and retail space.
During the design phase of the project, the development group consulted with Chandler Construction Services, Inc. to discuss construction scheduling and identify unique challenges associated with such an innovative and exciting undertaking. Extensive care was taken to preserve and protect selected trees during clearing operations.
The first phases of infrastructure improvements are complete and the master plan is being finalized to include 2 anchor tenants and an extensive array of retail shops, banks and restaurants. The network of new town roadways will be dedicated this summer in time for the opening of Kohl's and Wal-Mart. More detailed information can be found at www.marketatoakland.com.
